Women Who Lead - A real conversation on the opportunity & challenge of leadership for women
Inclusion and diversity is critical in shaping today’s workforce to help drive further innovation and positive business results. We are seeing more women being represented across all levels and taking up leadership positions in various global multinational companies, and they are playing an active role in contributing to the next decade of business transformation.
In the webinar themed “Women Who Lead - A real conversation on the opportunity & challenge of leadership for women” on 29th April, MOS Low Yen Ling, one of the youngest Singapore female ministers, shared her career development story, what she is passionate about, tips on leadership and what more needs to be done to support the growing role and prominence of women in various professions. 75% participants were female and 25% were male; and Luye colleagues actively participated in the Q&A session.
In particular, MOS Low attributed her achievements to entrepreneurial spirit, which always led her to see, feel, and create something new. When her career started, she did not set a macro five or ten years plan but gave herself a timeline by when she should achieve specific goals. Then the goals, once fulfilled, became her milestone. When ask how to achieve “work-life blend” (she agreed that there was no absolute “work-life balance”), she encouraged everyone to focus more on mental health and stop feeling guilty for spending “self time” to depressure. She also suggested the participants, whether females or males, to unleash their potential, support each other and jointly break gender bias. “Men, please step up to support your mother, wife and female colleagues because that’s your responsibility,” said MOS Low.
The event was co-organized by the APAC branches of various MNCs across industries including Healthcare, Biotech, Agriculture and FMCG. The host Dr. Tanvi Gautam is a multi-award winning executive coach, keynote speaker and author. She works internationally with organisations to accelerate transformational leadership for the age of disruption.
