Colouful Power Fules Healthier Life
Beautiful colours can catch our eyes, but do you know they can make our hearts stronger and life better?
Pink - "Breast" Wishes
South Eastern Private Hospital, a site of Aurora Healthcare Australia wrapped October by supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The hospital was buzzing and adorned in pink to show support and solidarity with those affected by breast cancer. Interactive events helped participants to uncover the facts about breast cancer, empowering them with information that can save lives.
It is called "Pink October" since the 1990s, when people around the world started to adopt the pink colour and display a pink ribbon, a symbol of hope and strength, to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and routine screening for the early diagnosis of breast cancer, now the second most commonly diagnosed cancer globally, when detected early, the survival rate is significantly higher. Thus, we are proud to join the global community in raising awareness for a more healthy and beautiful life.
Blue - You are ‘knot’ alone
In Belmont Private Hospital, our team celebrated “Blue Knot Day” on 31st October in support of more than 5 million Australian adults who have experienced complex trauma. By wearing blue knots and sharing blue desserts, we aimed to tell people “You are ‘knot’ alone’, and raise greater awareness of complex trauma, advocate for recovery, and help spread the message that people can and do heal from complex trauma with the right support.
Black – A haunting good time
Halloween fell on 31st October, too. Deakin Private Hospital team conjured up some frightful fun with spooky dress-ups, fang-tastic treats, its monthly BBQ (Bone-anza!), and a bit of trick-or-treat magic around the hospital. Wishing everyone a hauntingly happy Halloween!
Dressing black, we did not mean to frighten you but wanted to find a spook-tacular way to lift spirits and share some ghoulish grins. A big boo-tiful thank you to the amazing team for brewing up joy and creativity.
Colourful Week - Raising awareness for perinatal mental health
Belmont Private Hospital kicked off a colourful week full of educational and interactive activities on 17th November to celebrate Perinatal Mental Health Awareness week (PANDA week), aiming to help the community and health professionals to better understand perinatal mental health, and offer help to the families in need.
Each year, stories are shared to help achieve our vision of a society where perinatal mental health is valued and understood and where stigma and systemic barriers to seeking help no longer exist. And this year, the event series includes guided walks, art therapy, education sessions, morning tea and a movie night with snacks.
After a colourul month, we want to say that it's okay not to feel okay but remember to talk to people and let them know what's going on- because people care. At Aurora health, we talk with you and stand with you to regain health and happiness; and at the same time, we tackle shame about mental health with everyone.
