World Bipolar Disorder Awareness Day——We Care About Mental Health
On 30th March 2023, University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) has successfully organised the inaugural World Bipolar Day Awareness celebration in partnership with Luye Pharma Malaysia. World Bipolar Day is celebrated on the 30th of March every year in conjunction with birthday of Vincent Van Gogh, who was posthumously diagnosed as having Bipolar Disorder. This event gave specific focus and voices to Bipolar Disorders on top of the usual Mental Health awareness.
Since the conceptualization of this World Bipolar Disorder Awareness Celebration event together with Prof Mushin, Luye Pharma Malaysia team has been actively leading and contributed to the organising together with the UMMC Psychiatry Department team for more than 2 months prior of this half a day event.
Early in the morning, the participants were arriving and registering at the venue from 8.00 am onwards. Among those 200 attendees present for this event were Nurses, Paramedics, Medical Students, Medical Officers, Specialist, Head of Psychiatric Department and Hospital Director herself.
The event proceeded with the Welcome Remarks by the Head of Department, Prof Mushin and officiated by Hospital Director, Prof Nazirah. During her speech, Prof Nazirah expressed her gratitude to Luye Pharma for being part of the organising for this event together with UMMC. She had emphasised that No Health Without Mental Health. There are at least 1 out of 8 people in the world having mental disturbance and around 40 million people having bipolar disorder with the age range of 18-20 in average, she shared. Prof Nazirah said that early diagnosis and the right treatment to start with for patients with Bipolar Disorder would help them to have a normal and productive life.
The event proceeded with the disease awareness and knowledge lecture by Assoc. Prof Anne Yee. Prof Anne shared about what is Bipolar Disorder, overall diagnosis, management, and the treatment options available. There was a quiz after the knowledge sharing by Prof Anne. Most attendees participated the Kahhoot quiz, and the session was full of joy and laughter while attendees testing their knowledge about Bipolar Disorder. Prizes were given out at the end of session for the top 3 winners.

Robina Private Hospital Won 2023 Awards for Excellence - Clinical Excellence: Quality of Care and Patient Outcomes
Robina Private Hospital, Aurora Healthcare Australia was proud to become a 2023 Awards for Excellence winner in the category for Clinical Excellence: Quality of Care and Patient Outcomes. The Awards for Excellence was organized by Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA) to celebrate clinical excellence, innovation and improved staff wellbeing in Australia’s private hospitals.
Judges’ comments on Robina Private Hospital’s Older Persons Mental Health Service were: “This is an excellent model and is able to be replicated widely through the professional networks and collaboration developed with national and other organisations. There has been demonstrative improvement to clinical services and outcomes and detailed involvement of hospital team members at every level and throughout. Involvement of consumers/patients and carers has occurred throughout, and their feedback has been acted upon to make improvements to services.”
The Robina team love seeing their programs recognised for clinical excellence.
APHA CEO Michael Roff said: “We reintroduced the Awards in 2020 to celebrate the high-quality care Australians receive in private hospitals, but also to offer a way for hospital executives to learn from industry exemplars. And the high standard of entries in each of the Award categories showed how much private hospitals had been able to achieve, while continuing to manage COVID-19 patients and deal with the significant challenges posed by ongoing workforce shortages.”
The Awards were judged by a panel that includes the APHA CEO, the Chair of the Consumer Health Forum and the CEO of Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care.
Shandong Health Group Visited Yantai Huayi Rehabilitation Hospital
On 11th April, representatives from Shandong Yiyang Health Industry Development Group Co., Ltd. (Shandong Health Group), a leading enterprise in healthcare industry in Shandong Province, visited Yantai Huayi Rehabilitation Hospital, and investigated several sectors of Luye Life Sciences Group including Luye Pharma, Luye Medical, Boan Biotech and Patronus Biotech. Then the two sides had an in-depth exchange on integrating the superior resources and promoting the integration of medical care and nursing care.
The two sides made detailed introductions of their business, and discussed the potential collaboration and contribution to the healthcare industry in China and Shandong Province.
Iris Shi, Vice President of Operation of Luye Medical Group (China) and Head of Yantai Campus welcomed Wang Jian, Deputy General Manager of the group and his team, and then gave a detailed introduction to the group's mature rehabilitation industry layout at home and abroad. She appreciated Shandong Health Group’s reform and development, and recent layout in Hainan. She pointed out that considering the rising population and demand for rehabilitation in China, there is still a huge gap in the supply side of rehabilitation medical care. She hopes that the two parties can focus on their respective advantages in the healthcare industry and strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the field of integrated medical, health and nursing care.
Wang Jian spoke highly of the hospital's development achievements and the establishment of a standardized rehabilitation system. He said that since the establishment of Shandong Health Group, it has vigorously advocated the concept of "Health First, Service of Excellence", adhered to the "Four supports" of cultural conservation, spiritual nourishment, life support, and sports support, and comprehensively laid out the whole life cycle of the big health industry chain. He hopes the two sides can actively seek cooperation points, promote the development of the regional medical care and health industry, and benefit more people.
