2022 was a year of challenges and uncertainties, but we remained committed to the strategies of “innovation” and “internationalization” and tackled the difficulties head-on, bringing the year to a satisfactory close. At the starting line of a brand new 2023, we look forward to another year of unwavering march toward fulfilling our mission.

 

Youth Forum: Braving all the challenges to reach the destination

On this year’s Youth Forum, five young colleagues from different business units and positions shared their understanding of Luye spirit and Luye culture and how such understanding was reflected in their daily work. Their insights and stories demonstrate the exuberant and unyielding spirit of young people at Luye who brave all the challenges to reach the destination while staying true to our vision and mission. Many thanks to all the young colleagues for making our 2022 shine with their unique energy. The sustainable development of Luye depends on their enthusiasm and resilience.

Management Forum: Reflections and lessons learned on tackling management challenges

Management is as much a science as it is an art. Managers need to be an expert at both high-level planning and down-to-earth execution. How to formulate strategies based on the actual situation and ensure solid delivery? How to tackle the conundrum of limited manpower and heavy workload? This year’s forum invited seven managers from pharm, medical services, vaccines, and diagnostics units to share their reflections and lessons learned in management work from their perspectives and experiences in working in the frontline. The in-depth interaction between the guests speaking on stage or via videolink around the topics of “leadership” and “management effectiveness” provided valuable insights into how to improve the Group’s management systems. We believe every manager at Luye is fully prepared for 2023, ready to search for more effective management solutions and lead their teams to reach new heights.

Science and Business Forum: How to successfully develop and commercialize a new product

Luye Science and Business Forum is one of the signature academic activities of the Group. The forum invites influential scholars, scientists, and entrepreneurs to share and discuss their insights into the new trends, products, and technologies in the life sciences field.

This year’s forum invited Dr. Tian Jingwei, Vice President of Non-Clinical Research of Luye Pharma, Dr. Zhou Ming, Chief Medical Officer of Boan Biotech, and Mr. Chen Wei, Vice President of Luye Pharma (China), three managers involved, respectively, in the research, clinical study, and commercialization of new products. Drawing upon their experiences in the innovative R&D and fast commercialization of Ruoxinlin® and Boyoubei®, they shared lessons learned and insights gained with respect to clinical and commercial value of new products, efficient cross-departmental collaboration, and product lifecycle management, and discussed opportunities in these areas. The valuable views and suggestions on drug discovery, clinical development, commercialization, as well as project management and facilitation will help the Group better innovate in the development of new products and achieve more excellent commercialization.

Chairman’s address: Steadfast execution of strategies for high growth

2022 is a most memorable and significant year to Luye Life Sciences Group. Facing the stark challenges of the general environment, Luye colleagues around the world strived in unison with an unyielding spirit to overcome difficulties and achieved many unprecedented milestones. All business segments delivered positive growth despite an unfavorable environment; new business ventures progressed smoothly; and the Group showed bright development prospects. All these achievements are impossible without the hard work of every Luye colleague; all the staff members made tremendous efforts to make them happen. On half of the board of directors and the management team, Chairman Liu extended heartfelt thanks to everyone for their hard work and congratulated them on their achievements in the past year.

Chairman Liu then shared the 2030 strategy of the Group and pointed out that the Group would enter a period of high-growth starting from 2023 to 2030. This prediction is based on our competitive product pipeline and professional services built over the past two decades with continuous innovation. It is also based on the fact that our team has been constantly growing in capability. Chairman Liu also noted that the key to the success of strategies is execution. He called for an eradication of bureaucracy, doing work for mere formalities, and all talk and no work in strategy execution, and requested everyone to be client- and market-oriented and strive to deliver on targets. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of enhancing the capabilities of our team and improving our management by continuously perfecting the management systems in order to stay true to our mission and faithfully execute the strategies.

Chairman Liu expected that, with the lifting of most Covid-19 controls and the general environment taking a positive turn, all Luye colleagues would remain optimistic about our business and development. And lastly, on behalf of the board of directors and the executive team, he extended Spring Festival greetings to all colleagues around the world and their families, and wished them happiness and good luck in the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.

The annual awards ceremony recognizes those teams and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Group's business development, performance growth, value creation, efficiency improvement, management optimization, etc. This year, 62 individuals, 68 teams, and 8 major projects received awards, their glory witnessed by all Luye staff members!
